DESCRIPTION:<p>	<span style="color:#800000;"><strong>Learning Assessment:  Experimenting with Teaching Tools  </strong></span></p><p>	Discussion Leaders:<br>Eric Mazur, PhD,  Balkanski Professor of Physics and Applied Physics<br>Kelly Miller, PhD, Lecturer on Applied Physics</p><p>	<!--break-->Eric Mazur, Faculty Director of The SEAS Learning Incubator (LInc) and Kelly Miller, Faculty Associate, SEAS Learning Incubator (LInc), will lead  faculty in a discussion around the incorporation of teaching tools as a key component of the learning assessment process.  During this session, faculty will experiment with two teaching tools- <em>Perusall </em>and <em>Learning Catalytics </em>and identify ways in which they can use these tools in their teaching practice.    </p><p>	Learning Catalytics: A cloud based Assessment System enables peer interaction and peer learning and provides instructors with real-time information about student learning on a graphical dashboard display. This interactive student response tool uses students’ smartphones, tablets, or laptops to engage students in interactive tasks and thinking.</p><p>	Perusall: A Collaborative E-Book Reading Tool invites students to collaboratively annotate thoughts and questions regarding readings with the goal of increasing student engagement, motivation and interactive participation.</p><p>	<!--break--></p>
