Rethinking AM115 - Mathematical Modeling: Aims and Approaches

MahaL. Mahadevan, PhD
Lola England de Valpine Professor of Applied Mathematics, of Organismic and Evolutionary Biology, and of Physics
Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences
SEAS LInc Faculty Fellow

As a SEAS LInc Faculty Fellow, Mahadevan has devoted his Fellowship to the redesign of AM115: Mathematical Modeling.

There is no way to teach mathematical modeling without doing it. But how can we teach our students to try this? Mahadevan will discuss aspects of what he has learnt about the process, and how he is trying to implement the redesigned version of AM115 this fall 2018.

SEAS Faculty are invited to join Mahadevan for a discussion around the redesign of his course; its current state; and challenges encountered. An essential part of the luncheon will center on discussion and the opportunity to exchange ideas. Faculty feedback will be welcomed and valued.
