The Redesign of AM101, Statistical Inference for Scientists and Engineers

Discussion Leader:  Robert Howe, PhD, SEAS LInc Faculty Fellow, Spring 2017.

As a current SEAS LInc Faculty Fellow, Rob Howe has devoted his fellowship to the revision of his course, AM101. He has worked to transform the class into one that is interactive in nature and allows for experiential and project based approaches. The ultimate goal of the course revision is to create a dynamic learning environment in which students spend class time problem solving and synthesizing material with their peers and the instructor. He has restructured student learning experiences with careful thought to new approaches, tools and strategies which aim to create an environment in which students will benefit from the opportunity to apply newly acquired knowledge in the classroom and in turn clear up misconceptions and organize information so that they are better able to retrieve and apply such knowledge to future situations.

You are invited to join Rob Howe and SEAS Faculty for a discussion around the motivation of the restructuring of AM101; its current state and the challenges encountered.

An essential part of the luncheon will center on discussion and the opportunity to exchange ideas. Your feedback will be welcomed and valued.

We look forward to seeing you!
